The train

"Ima write you my best song. It's gon take me all night long." -6lack

You're waiting for a train.

You're waiting for a train that you don't know will ever come.

Do you keep waiting? Or do you walk away from the platform, down the stairs, and find another train to get you to your destination?

Do you check the schedule to make sure you're at the right platform?

Do you try to call customer service or the train operator to figure out if this train is ever actually coming?

You're waiting for a train.

You're waiting for a train that you don't know will ever come.

Do you realize you may be late as a result of this uncertainty? That because you've lost track of time, you may be missing the most important event of your life, because you're waiting for a train that may never show up?

Do you see others waiting for this train? Or are you alone? Are you too stubborn for your own good, waiting for a hypothetical construct?

You're waiting for a train.

You're waiting for a train that you don't know will ever come.

Do you set a rule for how much longer you're willing to wait, before you check the entirety of the train schedule and the flight schedule?

Do you calculate your losses, accept them, and then go find another train to board? Ultimately, it's a sunk cost, isn't it?

You're waiting for a train.

You're waiting for a train that you don't know will ever come.

It's just a train. And it's just a means to getting to a destination. It's not a fucking unicorn. There are other ways to get to where you need to be. Wake the fuck up, pick your bags up, and start making progress. Because the longer you wait, the longer this train will take to arrive. Does that make sense?
